After hours - matters of urgency only - 8391 7200.  The pound is the for inpounding of dogs. Dogs that are found straying are taken to the dog pound where they are fed and cared for. All dogs that are impounded are scanned for microchips and are checked for injury or illness, they are taken to the local vet for treatment if required.  If an impounded dog is wearing a current registration disc the owner is notified. The dog owner claiming the dog must pay the current release fee.  All dogs must be claimed within 72 (working) hours of impounding, dogs that are not claimed are retained by the pound until a new home can be found for the dog, by which Hahndorf Interim Animal Shelter have a NO KILL POLICY.
