Services
- A 1.8 hectre landscaped open space designed to improve water quality in the Sturt River whilst also providing recreation and education
- Comprises a series of 4 ponds having shallow edges, gently grading in to a depth up to 3 metres at the centre
- One pond includes an island which acts as a refuge for bird life
- Twenty varieties of reeds and aquatic plants and more than 8000 trees and shrubs have been planted
- In addition to freshwater shrimp, 7 species of fish have been introduced into the river system
- Developed jointly between the Patawalonga Catchment Water Management Board, the City of Marion, the state government and key community groups such as the Warriparinga Interpretive Centre Board of Management and the Kuarna Aboriginal Community & Heritage Association. The City of Marion is responsible for all maintenance
- Parking is available on Sturt Rd east of the bridge crossing the Sturt River and also at Warriparinga, across the river from the wetlands. Enter via Laffer Drive (off Sturt Rd), continue to the end of the gravel section of the road to the car park and walk across the bridge to the wetlands
