Reserves managed through volunteer effort: Cullen Reserve located near Robe, home to common wombats, many birds and several orchid species; Lake Short Conservation Reserve, Malurus Reserve, Moorunde Wildlife Reserve (6900 hectares) and Nardoo located near Blanchetown, all home to the southern hairy nosed wombat and other native fauna. There are about 2000 wombats on Moorunde reserve
