Provides a statewide professional service for teachers, allied professionals, parents and caregivers of children and students (birth to year 12) with disabilities and learning difficulties
Services
- Resource centre - teaching and learning resources and toy library
- Early Intervention Service - Hearing Impaired for babies and children who are hearing impaired or Deaf
- Provision of information and communication technology - provision of word processors, laptops and alternative input devices for approved students with a disability who attend a department site
- Transport assistance - for students with disabilities to access nearest DECS specialist facility
- Access equipment - specialised equipment for students with physical disabilities to support seating, transfer and standing, etc to ensure equitable access to education for children and students with disabilities
- Conductive Education - an intensive approach to learning for young children and students with physical and multiple disabilities originating from damage to the central nervous system
- Communication Support Service - support for students with a severe speech and/or language disability and professional development for educators
