Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres aim to assist older people, people with disabilities, and their carers to remain living independently in their own homes by providing information about care and support services and assistance with accessing respite care. Information is available from shopfront centres and by telephone
Services
- Information about community, aged care, disability and other support services available to assist older people, people with disabilities and carers - including home help, personal care, home nursing, meal services, social support,transport, home modifications, respite care, day care centres, day therapy centres, special services for people with dementia, continence assistance, health services and aged care assessment
- Support with planning, coordination and access to respite services for family carers looking after a person who is frail aged, has a disability, a terminal illness, a chronic mental or physical condition
- Short term, occasional and emergency respite designed to support carers. Respite may be provided in or out of home, tailored to individual needs and circumstances. Assistance is available for carers of people who have a mental illness, an intellectual disability and / or autism through the Mental Health Program. Additional assistance may be available to Young Carers through the Raw Energy program
