Responsible for promoting and protecting the rights and interests of people who have mental incapacity in South Australia
Services
- Information and advice about the operation of the Guardianship and Administration Act, the Mental Health Act, the Consent to Medical Treatment and Palliative Care Act and related issues
- Investigation - can be asked to investigate the situations of people on behalf of the Guardianship Board
- Guardianship - may be appointed as guardian of last resort by the Guardianship Board where guardianship is necessary and no alternative is available
- Advocacy - in particular on systems issues relating to services for people with mental incapacity
- Information about Advanced Directives including Enduring Power of Attorney, Enduring Power of Guardianship, Medical Power of Attorney, and Anticipatory Direction
