The Board operates under the provisions of the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship and Administration Act 1993
Services
- Conducts reviews and appeals on detention orders made by medical practitioners
- Authorises compulsory treatment and long term detention when necessary for a person with mental illness
- Appoints and oversees guardians and administrators for adults with mental incapacity
