Provides an integrated health, welfare, child care and education service in northern remote and isolated areas of South Australia from a base in Port Augusta, liaising with other services in the area
Services
- Child and family services - counselling for family, child or personal concerns, in person or by telephone; information about government services and programs; help with health, social issues and leisure activities; parent resource library
- Child care - Outback Childcare SA, mobile in-home care for children 0-12 years in remote areas; small town creche in Orroroo Mondays and Hawker Fridays, activities for children at community events
- Community health programs - infant and child screening, developmental checks; adult sight and hearing checks, blood sugar testing; antenatal information; health information; regular telephone linkup for mothers with babies or young children
- Education programs and resources - including kindergarten on air, activity kits for 4 year old children, toy library
- Family Days - held at central locations to provide opportunities for parents and children to meet, play and learn together
- Book club held via telelink
