CHILDREN IN NEED OF CARE
In South Australia, the Children’s Protection Act 1993 mandates Families SA with the responsibility for the care and protection of children and young people where there are concerns about their safety, welfare and well being.
There is a legal obligation on people who provide health, welfare, educational, child care or residential services for children to notify Families SA if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that a child is at risk of abuse or neglect. Families SA can provide information about training in Child Safe Environments - Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (formerly Mandated Notification Training) for people who are mandated to report abuse and neglect of children under the Children's Protection Act. For more information contact Families SA, tel. 8226 6735
