Rubbish
The standard bin for household rubbish is a 140 litre MGB (Mobile Garbage Bin). It is a small bin because the waste management system allows recyclables and garden waste to go into seperate bins. This means household waste which is not recyclable, makes up a smaller percentage of total household waste materials. Only household waste that cannot go in the other two bins goes into the rubbish bin. This bin should not contain hot ashes, liquids including solvents, oils or flammable chemicals, bricks, concrete, car parts or any large metal or timber pieces. To ensure emptying of your bin, all bins should be out on the kerbside by 7am on the day of collection,
Recycling
A 240 litre Recycling bin is supplied to every household and is identified with a bright yellow lid which features a list of items suitable for recycling. The recycling bins are emptied each fortnight on your regular rubbish day. Check your recycling calendar & look for the yellow squares to see which week your recycling bin will be emptied. Items to be recycled need to be rinsed with the lids off and can include aluminium cans, glass jars & bottles, paper, cardboard, milk & juice cartons
Greenwaste: You may elect to purchase a 240 litre MGB for garden waste, which NAWMA will empty at no charge. All garden waste bins must be registered with NAWMA and have a yellow sticker affixed to the bin to alert the driver that it is garden waste only. Prunings (no greater than 100mm in diameter), grass clippings, weeds, leaves & flowers can all go into the bin. The garden waste should be as free as practical from soil and do not use and plastic bags or bin liners. The garden waste bin is emptied on alternative weeks to the recyclables bin
Stolen or Damaged Wheelie Bins: If your bin is stolen or damaged, contact NAWMA for repair or replacement
Holiday Collections: Any changes to your collection day are marked on your NAWMA calendar by pink squares. Changes are only made due to Christmas Day, Good Friday and New Years Day holidays
