The Scheme aims to enrich the quality of life of residents living in Commonwealth Funded Residential Aged Care Homes. The volunteer program provides an opportunity for residents who are socially isolated or lonely and who would benefit from a friendly visitor.
Services
- Volunteers are carefully matched with a resident who has no or few family and friends.
- The aim is to establish a one on one friendship for residents and volunteers.
- Volunteers are provided with support, training and reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.
- Visits can be undertaken once a week or fortnightly, at a day and time convenient for the volunteer.
- For residents the volunteers provide them with a link to their community by just having a conversation.
