Eligibility
Frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers living in the City of Unley. For services with a waiting list, priority will be given to those on low incomes with no other support
Fees
Client contribution for most services
Services
  • Home help - short term cleaning. Intensive/spring cleaning may be available once a year, max. 3 hours. Cost negotiable
  • Personal care - short term assistance with dressing, grooming, showering
  • Shopping/banking - no charge but dependent upon availability of volunteers
  • Community Harvest - fortnightly delivery by volunteers of fresh fruit and vegetables for people who have difficulty shopping. $5 donation
  • Friendly visiting - available at no charge but dependent upon availability of volunteers. Council also offers Community Visitors Scheme for isolated residents of aged care facilities, tel. 8372 5191
  • Respite care - in home. Negotiable hourly rate
  • Home maintenance - minor works only. Cost of materials and a small client contribution
  • Home modification - limited to installation of hand rails. Cost of materials and a small client contribution
  • Gardening - limited service, subject to availability of funding
  • Rubbish removal - one trailer load of garden refuse annually at no charge
  • Safety and security assessment - available at no charge. Smoke alarm installation free, resident to pay for the detector
  • Transport - community bus available to all Council residents Mon - Fri over fixed route to shops and library. Lifter for those people who cannot get up the steps. Donation required. Also a Shopping Bus specifically for the fail aged, younger disabled and their carers. Wheelchair-accessible vehicle provides fortnightly service to local shopping centres for gold coin donation. Personal transport for frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers available to medical appointments and social groups at no charge but dependent upon availability of drivers
  • Outings - usually short bus trips organised by local community centres. No charge
