Eligibility
Frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers living in the City of Mitcham for most services. Priority will be given to special needs groups such as people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people with dementia, those who are financially disadvantaged and people with an intellectual disability. Assessments will be based upon eligibility, individual need and Council's capacity to meet that need

Services
- Assessment - Council will assess the need for Council and/or other services and make appropriate referrals. No charge
- Home help - short-term cleaning limited to 6 visits following illness or injury. Interim cleaning assistance may be available to eligible residents but limited to 2 hours per fortnight. Spring cleaning up to 3 hours per year. Hourly fees apply
- Assistance with social integration - liaison and support for people to attend locally-based social/recreational activities. Normally limited to 4 hours per week. No charge
- Carer support - normally limited to once-off support. No charge
- Shopping and banking - available fortnightly, subject to the availability of volunteers. Can accompany client to do banking but actual transactions must be done by client. Small fee applies
- Home maintenance - limited to minor work with priority given to work essential for health and safety. If a larger/specialist task and necessary for health and/or safety reasons, subject to funding, Council may subsidize the cost to a maximum of $165 per year. Hourly fee plus cost of materials
- Home modification - minor works only. If a larger/specialist task and necessary for health and/or safety reasons, subject to funding, Council may subsidize the cost to a maximum of $165 per year. If referral for rails, must include a prior assessment by an Occupational Therapist. Hourly fee plus cost of materials
- Rubbish removal - maximum of 2 loads at any one time with maximum of 3 loads per year. Hourly fee plus any dump costs
- Home safety and security assessment - available at no charge. If resident wishes to implement the recommendations, assistance available - refer Home Modification. Hourly rate plus cost of materials
- Gardening - limited service, maximum of 4 hours per year. Focus on health and safety issues such as removal of branches and obstructing foliage. No weeding, digging or lawn mowing. If a large job, subject to funding, Council may subsidize the cost to a maximum of $165 per year. Hourly fee plus any materials/dump fees
- Transport - community bus offers weekly door-to-door service to local shopping centres for gold coin donation. Monthly or bi-monthly service to Marion and Central Market with monthly trips to both Council libraries. Wheelchair access in one of two busses. Personal transport for medical appointments, shopping and once-off to visit someone in hospital, all subject to availability of volunteers. Resident must be able to walk without primary assistance of volunteer and prior notice required. Travel outside Council limited to Adelaide central business district, North Adelaide and Flinders Medical Centre. Fees apply based upon distance travelled
- Supported recreation - lunches and social activities for frail aged residents at various community centres. Transport available. Charges apply for meals and transport
