Eligibility
Frail aged and younger people with disabilities and their carers residing in the Council area. Some services available to socially-isolated individuals and post-acute patients (following hospitalisation)

Services
  • Home support - basic cleaning only. Short-term (13.5 hours per year) and longer-term assistance (1.5 hours per fortnight) may also be available. Hourly rate applies
  • Personal care - packages of care which include cleaning may be available. Hourly fee applies
  • Shopping and banking - requested items may be purchased fortnightly or client transported to shops. Fees apply. Tel. 8366 4611
  • Council offers Community Visitors Scheme for isolated residents of aged care facilities
  • Home maintenance - minor repairs for frail aged, younger disabled and their carers who own their own home and/or are on a low income. Hourly fee plus cost of materials. Tel. 8366 4611
  • Home modification - minor modification of existing fixtures for safety purposes only for frail aged, younger disabled and their carers who own their own home and/or are on a low income. Hourly fee plus cost of materials
  • Rubbish removal - for frail aged, younger disabled and their carers who own their own home and/or are on a low income. Fee per trailer load. Waiting time may apply. Tel. 8366 4611
  • Home safety and security assessment. Free assessment with labour fee and cost of materials if subsequently request recommended work to be done. Waiting list may apply. Tel. 8366 4611
  • Transport - community bus provides door-to-door service to local shopping centres, libraries and social clubs and personal transport for medical appointments in the Council area for frail aged, younger disabled and their carers who have difficulty accessing public transport and can no longer drive. Gold coin donation for community bus, small fee for personal transport. Tel. 8366 4595
  • Supported recreation - Community Lunch Program provides fortnightly lunches for older women, frail aged, younger disabled and their carers. Gold coin donation for transport if required plus cost of meals
  • Fitness classes - weekly classes for both active and frail people. Transport provided for frail aged, younger disabled and their carers, tel. 8366 4595. Nominal class fee applies
  • Home Library Service - delivers library items monthly to residents who cannot visit the library due to frailty, disability or illness. Doctor's referral required, contact the Home Library Services Librarian, tel. 8336 0333
