Services
- Aged accommodation - independent living units for the aged
- Cleaning - both short term and spring cleaning) for people with no other cleaning support. Spring cleaning: max. 6 hours annually, subject to waiting lists, hourly rate applies. One-off intensive clean-ups also available. Short term clean total of 12 hours to assist the client to rehabilitate.
- Home maintenance - minor work only. Hourly rate plus cost of materials. Council maintains a Trades and Services Register
- Home modification - minor work only. For installation of grab rails a home visit by an Occupational Therapist required - Council can assist clients with arranging this assessment. Hourly rate plus cost of materials and a fee for occupational therapist visit if required. Council maintains a Trades and Services Register
- Shopping and banking - fortnightly service for people aged over 70 years, normally only short-term unless client has no other support available and cannot access telephone or internet shopping/banking. Client can be accompanied or the shopping done for them. Waiting list may apply, hourly fee charged
- Friendly visiting - volunteers visit clients in their homes to provide socialisation for people who are housebound, subject to the availability of volunteers. May include reading/letter writing, occasional outings or shopping. No charge, waiting list applies.Prioirity given to clients aged 80 years and over. e
- Social support - Social Participation Officer can refer appropriate clients to relevant social programs or assist them to integrate into social groups
- Gardening - limited to once-only garden tidy, seasonal pruning or for safety and security purposes. Max. of 2 workers for 2 hours. Priority to frail aged and their carers, especially clients aged 75 years and over. Fees apply. Council maintains a Trades and Services Register
- Rubbish removal - subject to assessment. Limited to one per household per year. Hourly fee plus dumping costs
- Safety and security assessments - recommendations discussed with clients who can choose the work they wish done. No charge. Assistance with agreed works may be available under Council's home modification scheme
- Support recreation - Getting Out & About program. Taxi subsides for individuals aged 75 years and over who may have no or few other outlets for social stimulation, are at risk of becoming socially isolated, are unable to access other transport services, are financially disadvantaged and are clients of the Passenger Transport Subsidy Scheme (Access Cabs). Cost of $2 per trip plus a taxi voucher may be required
- Day respite program - SAGES group offers frail aged residents with low support needs and their carers a range of activities such as guest speakers, outings and shared meals. Transport available. Fees apply
- Transport - community bus provides door-to-door shopping service and transport to designated local community centres on a regular basis. Small fee applies
