Services
- Home help - cleaning. Short term, max. 8 visits. Intensive cleaning available on assessed need and Council staff can work with other agencies to assist with clients' long-term needs. Priority given to clients not eligible for assistance from other agencies. Hourly fee applies
- Personal care - available to the frail aged only. Short-term for clients not eligible for assistance from other agencies or requiring case management or packaged care. Hourly fee applies
- Shopping and banking - short term unless part of a Council care package. Client can be accompanied or transactions can be done by a volunteer. Subject to the availability of volunteers, donation requested
- Friendly visiting - subject to the availability of volunteers. Donation requested
- Respite care - in-home, passive. Limited number of hours per client who must be an existing Home Assist Scheme client and not eligible for other respite services. One-off respite to attend important family events such as weddings. No charge
- Home maintenance - limited to minor work. For small jobs, cost of materials only; for larger jobs, fee negotiated. Trade referral register also available.
- Home modification - limited to minor works. For small jobs, cost of materials only; for larger jobs, fee for labour and materials negotiated. If installing safety rails or other similar equipment, an occupational therapist assessment is required which will be organised and paid by the Scheme. Trade referral register also available
- Energy audits - no charge. Client charged for any items subsequently installed
- Gardening - basic, once-only service. Donation requested. Larger jobs possible but fees apply and dependent upon availability of volunteers
- Rubbish removal - where rubbish assessed as a health and safety issue, one per year. Fees negotiated. Council staff can work with other agencies to assist with clients' long-term needs
- Transport - personal transport to medical appointments within the Council and to the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals subject to the availability of volunteers. Client must be able to self-transfer, e.g. from a wheelchair to car. Donation requested
