Construction for the Paddocks Wetlands commenced in 1975. By establishing artificial wetlands, habitats are created that otherwise would be absent from an urban area. Not only waterbirds, but a whole range of plants and wildlife can exist in and benefit from these habitats. The Paddocks Wetlands feature small islands, dead trees and logs, deep and shallow water, reed and sedge beds and dense surrounding vegetation for refuge and breeding of waterbirds and other animals
