The 1.7km board walk meanders through the mysterious tidal world of the mangrove forest, heart of the Barker Inlet coastal wetlands. In 1984 the City of Salisbury constructed the St Kilda Mangrove Boardwalk to encourage a wider appreciation of the ecosystems of Barker Inlet., An interpretative centre has been designed and installed at the Trail to significantly enhance the educational role of the facility. The Centre features displays, photographs, maps and aquariums to inform people of the nature of the eco-system in the tidal mangrove forests
